14.-17.5.2026 Arktika purjehdus
Sail with us to the eastern Gulf of Finland and get to know Arktika - the migration of arctic birds!
In May, the birds nesting in the arctic tundra migrate along the coast of the Gulf of Finland to the east and northeast. The almost endless tundra supports millions of birds, and most of them are also found in Finland as transient migrants. On the best days, you can see up to 200,000 individuals pass by. After half a month, it's the turn of the geese, which are incredible to see on mass migration days. Binoculars and cameras should sometimes be aimed from the sky to the sea, because the seals are also on the move!
The sailing route follows the route of migratory birds from Harmaja to the lighthouse island of Söderskär to Sipoo and the Porvoo archipelago.
On board m/aux Svanhild we'll get to to witness, the migration of hundreds of thousands of birds nesting in the arctic tundra!

On Saturday, we will observe migrating birds from the island and in the evening we will sail along the inner archipelago of Sipoo to Norkullalandet. Sunday's journey home takes place in the inner archipelago via Vuosaari harbor and Hevossalmi back to Helsinki. The route plan is preliminary and may change depending on the weather and the wishes of the participants.
Sailing along with us is a guide from Bird Life, Eero Haapanen.
In addition to bird and nature guidance, Arktika sailing is inspired by Eero's exciting and interesting stories about the Baltic Sea, the eastern archipelago, and the forgotten inhabitants of the outer archipelago of the Helsinki region.
